en México hasta el café pica...

Calor. Enrojecimiento. Comezón. Hinchazón. Dolor intenso. Pequeñas cantidades pequeñas de sangre o secreciones. Tos.

Death of a Salesman, Arthur Miller
The aspen Papers, Henry James
The Turn of the Screw, Henry James
Animal Farm, George Orwell
Asfixia, Chuck Palahniuk
The Flash of Lightning Behind the Mountain, Charles Bukowski
Por favor, rebobinar, Alberto Fuguet
Rough for radio I y II, Samuel Beckett
Language and Mind, Noam Chomsky (aunque para ser francos no entendí prácticamente nada)
Post-Scarcity Anarchism, Murray Bookchin (en progreso, cuesta digerirlo)
La Oveja Negra y demás Fábulas, Augusto Monterroso
Voyeurs, Andrés Jorge
Marcovaldo, Italo Calvino
Plays from Wolly Mammoth, varios autores... recomiendo The Art Room de Aronson.

Releídos fuera de tiempo:
El topo, Alejandro Jodorowski
La Peste, Albert Camus
Fuegos, Marguerite Yourcenar
Naked Lunch, William Burroughs
Cuentos Completos, Vladimir Nabokov (bueno, solo algunos)

out”.

Yo siempre me enfermo y luego me deprimo. O viceversa. Depende que tenga más: frío o soledad. Ahora estoy enfermo.

She needs you more than she loves you.

angie, i kind´o miss you these days…

chez moi? ou est chez moi?

fenotipos vemos, genotipos no sabemos... niemand kennt niemand...

se me olvidó tomar fotos en la fiesta de la conz... too much tequila... but this space was supposed to hold thos photos so I'll kind of describe them:

1) a long long curvy road towards that far place where Sn Jeronimo is no more... check the lights at night!

2) The basement, where conz puts her corpses. Brian got caught in it and you can see him with half his body directly into the floor...

3) Luisa... Brian brought her and I really tried hard not to bite her... even tough she DID bit me. Y' owe me one, brian!

4) I guess conz in pink sweater and me smiling with two glasses of tequila. each. This should always be bad photos, but always worth uploading.

5) Susana sleeping in the bedroom with a scotch skirt on her back. I love this dog but she despises me.

6) The VERY beautiful friend of conz... forgot her name, but she's modelling besides her photos. That lottery sequence is great. Specially the old lady in "The Poor"

7) Brian with a scarf... drunk and coughin'

8) And conz and me pouring the ponche... nice colors!

and the deep part of nothing... take it as homework for the next post, since I'll be leaving to morelia tomorrow:

If you reach out for more,
you'll find nothing but sorrow.
'Cause knowledge is hollow.
And pride is hard to swallow.

De Mezcales y Votrexes magnéticos...

Amazing. Released today, magnetic vortex cores get hot with short burst of alternating fields. In nature. And some pervert induces its polarization out of plane. And somehow, it can be used to magnetically store data. Ask no more. I'm just amazed by the size of my ignorance and the limitations of my comprehension.

Beaucoup.

Morelia is coming nigh again, but not for ecology. I'd like to become a vampire there, just not this time already. Not ready yet. Should be working on my presentation... who knows what the end of november shall bring?

Blessed are the forgetful…

...for they get the better even of their blunders.

I am starting to think I did went to the empire’s capital to get my mind wiped out. They were there as well. Lacuna Inc was on Grand St., Rockville Centre. I’ve seen the movie twice, but never before noticed it, perhaps because Rockville didn’t meant a shit to me back then. Hell, I even bought the copy in Rockville! I must confess there was something about it (the real one) that reminded me of that movie (often). It just lacked the snow. Not that I actually missed it.

It was just too coincidental. It was right there where I erased my eternal feminine. Lucky me, since it had become a ruthless monstruosity. Yeah, just take a couple of long, unsuccesful and significant relationships and overcook them. Let them marinate overnight in their own outcome and address them with the sour drops of unconsummated relationships. Put some of the nice girls you didn’t even talked to and voila! Please serve cold. I always thought this reassembly would have the fine need of puking. But it didn’t.

As in Kauffman’s script, it took me to meet an uncommon girl to find my mind getting shattered again, and then rebuilt. Always a girl. And then I noticed. That movie is a hoax. Because we always perform self-lobotomies after a breakup! At least when the real breakup finally comes. A friend once told me to go back to the places holding dear memories and to breath the memories away. To regain the energy left there. It was Tai-chi. Or Reiki. Can’t recall. I don’t know if it works, I never actually did it. I used to call it “to wipe the astral cochambre from the mind”. Going to those places again and again ‘till the memory was gone. Or the feeling, to be more accurate. It didn’t worked… completely. I would’ve needed another eight years some six times to get it done. It’s just my life reeked of her. Of them, actually. Each and every physical and metaphysical corner of my mind had their scents. Individually or mixed. It was helplessly, maddening, hopelessly, despairingly desperate. It was that or get totally rid out of my life… my own life! Then it came Rockville. I was taken out of context to somewhere without family, lovers, friends, colleagues… without past. To a place where, in average, you’re not liked. At last you find yourself face to face with that very person you love the most and dislike the most. Or at least fear a bit. You. And in my case, it made me cry.

However, there was a main difference: at the end, I didn’t ended up missing to death all I have lost (or everything I never did), but actually remembered. After that incomplete and unsuccessful lobotomy, I remembered what I was (not who). What I had lost somewhere between the warm sheets of shared beds, between the cushions of those films in the cinema, along those wet and windy paths in the university, amongst the fallen leaves on autumm streets and most of all, between the two pairs of lips of all unaccomplished kisses. And fuck it worked! I don’t think I’m any better than before, I haven’t been enlighted. My epiphany is still waiting to be found. I’m just happier. Happy to be back in some track. My own. It’s more than enough to keep up with the living. And to consummate all those pending lips closures.

Thanks to all who where there and those who weren’t. It’s always helpful to be left alone. Specially to those two from abroad whom gave me hope. And I correct: everyone should visit Rockville. Rockville Centre. To get your heart wiped out and stitched back.

How happy is the blameless vestal’s lot?
The world forgetting by the world forgot
Eternal sunshine of a spotless mind
Each pray'r accepted and each wish resign'd
Labour and rest, that equal periods keep;
"Obedient slumbers that can wake and weep"
Desires compos'd, affections ever ev'n,
Tears that delight, andsighs that waft to Heav'n.
Grace shines around her with serenest beams,
And whisp'ring angels prompt her golden dreams.
For her th' unfading rose of Eden blooms,
For her the Spouse prepares the bridal ring,
For her white virgins hymeneals sing,
To sounds of heav'nly harps she dies away,
And melts in visions of eternal day.

La UNAM no tiene citas

¡ora resulta!

November the 1st... Día de Muertos!!!!

Definitively my favourite day... even with everything that's happening in Oaxaca and the remote image of a baseball stadium and a protest altar enriched by nameless benefactors overnight...

A brief description for the uninitiated: an altar is set so your deads come visit you and have some food to gather some energy in their long journey to the land of the dead. You usually cook some special food (your dead's favourite, usually mole, tamales, yolk bread, chocolate), candies and fruits (pumpkin candy, orange, sugarcane, tejocotes, guava candy) and drinks (mainly glasses with water, but also beer, tequila and mezcal)... salt for purification, copal to cleanse the room out of evil spirits, a petate where your dead can rest overnight, a path made of cempasúchil's flowers to guide the dead to the altar, a dog toy (itzcuintli) to guide your dead through the path of deads, and leave it overnight on november 1st and 2nd... You also put your dead's personal belongings and portraits (cigars, pipes, clocks, glasses) and mirrors. And the most important component: the tzompantli (a symbol of victory, where the heads of defeated enemies were put) depicted by sugar skulls (with the names of your deads and yourself on their forefront) and dead's bread (sugar bread with bone shapes).

And remember, it's a party! mourn, honor, remember and share with your defuncts!!!

These photos are from UNAM's megaaltar... this year it was quite weird... altars were thematic with asia and africa. As usual, the best altars were from Facultad de Ciencias and Escuela Nacional Preparatoria.

Free speech murder...

Four people were murdered yesterday in Oaxaca. Amongst them was Brad Will, well known journalist from Indymedia New York City... Will is the unfortunate first journalist in Indymedia to be killed while reporting.

Let this be a respectful mourn, and when the mourning is over... , complete removal of Ulises Ruiz!

Entdecken von Musik

Since The masTer of inTrospecTion Teddy T has given up The Postal Service (take a look at his blog), I must take the dropped flag and push GiveUp album. So, patches and ´cerpts from a patchy band.

Nothing Better is too much into the 80's for me... its lyrics is a reminder of how much of a bloody oligochaete you can become during a breakup... and it is not as joyful as the tune. Still I must confess I saw my inside homevideo repeat during Clark Gable... a clear sign of unrecovery.

I want so badly to believe that there is truth, that love is real.

And the way the tunes begin soft as a warm whisper that's just about to tell you how fucked up you're, but personally and particularly fucked up... and yet I found them reeking of selfishness and selfpityness.

How can you just walk away from me
When all I can do is watch you leave?

Cause we shared the laughter and the pain
And even shared the tears

The intros of Be Still My Heart and Brand new Colony are hypnotizing... and finally... the two most played ones are indeed the best: the intro of We Will Become Silhouettes is great to see the sunrise while facing the cold north wind and think of a joyful apocalypsis already accepted... Such Great Heights intro and tempo worked terribly for me while walking in the rain along Gingko biloba streets down the empire´s capital, it forces you to draw a warm smile across your face... when I follow the lyrics I feel foolish, nostalgically hoping (or erratically remembering?) I was in love.

I am thinking it's a sign that the freckles
In our eyes are mirror images and when
We kiss they're perfectly aligned
And I have to speculate that God himself
Did make us into corresponding shapes like
Puzzle pieces from the clay
And true, it may seem like a stretch, but
Its thoughts like this that catch my troubled
Head when you're away when I am missing you to death
When you are out there on the road for
Several weeks of shows and when you scan
The radio, I hope this song will guide you home.

When I read the review about The Flaming Lips´new album in their webpage (written by Coyne) I was angry. Deeply, frustratingly angry about them showing their true Oklahoma's self. I quote textually (or at least copy&pastextually) from "Free Radicals" review at flaminglips.com

Keep in mind that this is just a funny dream - these suicide bombers are clearly brainwashed religious fanaticals that are insane with their own agenda... they are beyond any pleads of reason and are not worthy of any sympathy

I decided not to buy the bloody record. After a couple of months of biting my nails out of curiosity, I decided to do something worse (evil deep laughter): To illegally download it and "damage your artist". Bloody shit of St. Patrick! I love the lads... The album is full of antibushit, and the paragraph above might seem as a preventive statement... which is worse. However I, in an uttermost merciful manner, forgive thy!... t'morrow I shall buy the fucking record. just a taste:

She's starting to live her life
From the inside out
The sound of failure calls her name
She's decided to hear it out
So go tell Britney and go tell Gwen
She's not tryin' to go against all them
'Cause she's too scared and she can't pretend
To understand where it begins or ends
Or what it means to be dead
It's just a sound going through your head
Let them go on

And, Terrible masTer of InTrospecTion: I think thou shan´t like this album, "still rock music" 's you once foretold... I ask you to appreciate the elegant distress of violence too sentimental to be rude and still deep in the 70´s...

Foggy Bottoms in Shady Grove...

It's a cold morning, just not as cold as yesterday... it rained all night long and right now it is all cloudly and a dense, warm fog came down to reclaim us all... such a nice morning I went outdoors to take my morning smoke and free kenyan coffee... iPod is a great invent, I sat down on the very fancy garden tables, my so-longed JC Venter institute behind me (or The Dark Side, or The Emperor's Lair, or Satan's Lab as it is known here) in front of a mist-covered lake with asleep ducks (canadian migrating ducks by the way) on it, while I listened to Bowie's Life on Mars... for a very brief moment, I felt happy. I'm almost coming back now... and actually expect that. I miss my bed and my dog, and just as Teddy Terrible said Paz said once: I'm learning a lot about Mexico now that I'm abroad and I fucking miss the bloody Moon's bellybutton! Its just... there's still so much to do here... so much work but so many places and so many people to know... there are very interesting people here, you just need to dig a bit to find them...

Leave you with two photos, a quote and two excerpts. The quote is from Beckett (btw, the theatre was just great Angie!), it states how I feel inside in a well-written form, as always. The photo is just a sample of this law-and-rule brainwash I've been through. The excerpts are modified to my own feel from Bowie... anyone knows which song?

" I write about myself with the same pencil and in the same exercise book as about him. It is no longer I, but another whose life is just beginning" ---Samuel Beckett

"..but her friend is nowhere to be seen
as she walks through a sunken dream
to the seat with the clearest view
and she's hooked on the silver screen
But the film is a sadd'ning bore
for she's lived it ten times or MORE!
she could spit in the eyes of fools
as they ask her to focus in silence..."

"...now the work is a struck for fame
'cause Lennon's on sale again
see the mice in their million hordes
from Ibiza to the Norfolk Broads
our Britannia is out of grasp
to my mother, my dog and clowns
but he film is a sadd'ning bore
'cause I wrote it ten times before
it's about to be writ again
as I ask you to focus in silence.
.."

Ethioxican feedin' habits

One more week...

(2) a true combatant in life, with enough guts to remain unbetrayed to herself, pushing up from deep within and struggling just on the edge of the system (unlike therest of us): and whose hobby for a living is to annotate hyperthermophile genomes... thanks angie, y´ve made me change views from the inside out. Guess it comes with the maple syrup!

Angie: sorry for the spanish and thanks!
this being the last "thanks" and the last apology, honest! (um... so says the allapologiesgirl!)

Venterlandia

And prepare to glance JTC... where the big shit happens! Iotyi, Pauline and me on the classical tour through the sequencing hangar... y'know, this one to the left is just ONE of several sequencer corridors... 8 million base pairs a day with each one... a q le tiras cuando suenias mexicano?
